Börstel Abbey is a former Cistercian monastery that has been home to an ecumenically staffed abbey chapter for nearly 400 years. The Freiweltliche Stift is located in the middle of the forest on the Berge – Herzlake road, on the northern edge of the district of Osnabrück.
Forest stage Ahmsen
The Forest stage Ahmsen – in the east of the district of Emsland – has been performing a religiously oriented play year after year since 1949 and additionally a musical for children since 1964. The season extends from the end of May to the beginning of September.
